This document describes our temporary installations of X-windows terminal emulators on our personal computers.

Note that you can run the MS-WINDOWS Netscape on the PC while working with the two MS-windows options 1. (mixed) and 2. mostly X only. ( see also below)

There are three modes tested

MS-DOS version: SIMPLE AND FAST
WINDOWS version, mixed windows and X-windows (recommended)
WINDOWS version, mostly X-windows functionality

The Theory PCs are by now

pcatom (room 553)
pc-janp
lin-atom (room 553, not yet ready, will also run Linux)

pc-janp can be used only when not needed by J.P.H. and only!! if no changes are done to the setup. The one who touches any parameters of the autoexec.bat or similar will be limited to line terminals for the rest of his/her studies !!!! The last is true also for the other machines! You are not alone here, none of the machines is anybody's personal computer!!
