The main objective is collaboration on all the aspects involving physics of relativistic heavy ion collisions:  the model building part (mainly theoretical in nature), the analysis part (involving the development of software and the running of simulations), and the hardware part (the contribution to the development of intelligent detectors).

Bergen Computational Physics Laboratory:  Exceptional human and computational resources. EU Research Infrastructure in EU FP5, member of two EU Integrated Infrastructure Initiatives in EU FP6. UCT is in construction of a High Performance Computational Lab. Increasing “cluster” capacity. GRID collaboration.

Participating in the exchange:

Cape Town: Zeblon Vilakazi, Roger Fearick,  Artur Szostak, Wheaton Spencer, Rory Adams, …

Bergen: Dieter Roehrich, Csaba Anderlik, Karolis Tamosiunas, Jaakko Manninen, Agnes Nyiri, Etele Molnar, Mathias Richter, Hongyan Yang, …

SA students stayed in Bergen for complete semestre, also taking courses and passing exams (excellently!), Bergen students visited Cape Town for 1 – 2 months, the project leaders have spent also 1 and 2 months at the other university.
