Ion-Surface Interaction Studies
The ions that are extracted from EBIT have high charge and low velocity,
unlike those produced in high-energy accelerators. They allow us to
probe surfaces in ways inaccessible to other experimental devices.
- Electron emission from surfaces
- Ion scattering from surfaces
- Ion de-excitation near surfaces
- Micromachining surfaces with ions
